Luisa Nemati: People go about credit consolidation in different ways. Some people are able get lower interest loans to consolidate higher interest debt. Many seek the help of consumer credit counseling services. Some consumer credit counseling services are pricy – we suggest nonprofit services groups like Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas. – www.cccs.net.

jeff: I am currently not eligible for contributing to a Roth IRA due to income. I have read, however, that monies put in over the next five years (through 2010) into a standard IRA can be pulled out to convert to a Roth. Do you recommend I do that?

I and my wife would both be able to convert the $20,000 plus interest in 2010.

Will promises be kept this time?

Most people in the community feel the Clayton County Commissioners have not properly spent the [2003] $240 million SPLOST," says Dexter Matthews, president of the Clayton NAACP. "So the taxpayers would be foolish to give these same people $305 million and trust them to spend it properly."

A brochure promoting the February 5 SPLOST warns that "Without SPLOST funds, Clayton County may find it necessary to discontinue county services or increase property taxes."

This penny tax is collected from anyone who spends money here, instead of Clayton's property owners possibly bearing the financial burden alone.

Yet if the monies collected are insufficient to fund all of these projects, taxpayers will have to pick up the rest of the tab anyway. Or vote yes to another SPLOST in the future.

Now if you don't know what drifting is check out video of it on YouTube just plug in "drifting" into their search engine and sit back and watch for yourself. Drifting is really popular especially after a movie appearance.

Long story short when the guy went off the parking garage he bounced off the trash can below and then onto the ground. Amazingly he walked away and is now at Grady hospital. Police are charging him with DUI and reckless driving.

Really the video is crazy -- a six story plunge and the guy walks away and apparently tells a cop " I want a lawyer." One of the wooden planks from a fence even pierced his ride -- right through the passenger seat. The man in his twenties had just dropped off his girlfriend.

Already just in the last 20 minutes I've received an email saying this guy could not have drifted in this car and that this car is not suited for drifting and I've already seen on drifting websites people laughing at this guy for what he tried to do.

Horses | Peachtree pieces a big year together

A look at the daily financial pages details their reason for heartburn.

John Fort, who heads Camden-based Peachtree Racing Stables, provides the exception. He welcomes the opportunity.

His operation enjoyed a banner year in 2007, winning more than $1.85 million in purses on the track — and that was only the start of the positive news.

"A good year," he says.

His "good year" observation belongs on the understatement list. The earnings came thanks to 23 wins in 128 starts (18 percent) and top-three finishes in half of those races by Peachtree thoroughbreds.

Then there are the sales of High Cotton, who retired to stud, and broodmare Happy Tune, who brought $1.85 million at auction. And don't forget the possibilities offered by the offspring of Invisible Ink, who ran second in the 2001 Kentucky Derby for Peachtree.
