| Joe Budden: Mood Musik 3
Jumpoff will make listeners want to pour some liquor out with his touching memories of the fallen MC. Things take a more upbeat turn on “Star Inside Of Me" featuring Suzy Q. We find the artist taking a strong look in the mirror and being proud of what he sees. Suzy Q's Lil' Mo sounding vocals on the chorus give this song a radio friendly vibe without forcing the issue. While the tape offers some strong guest appearances from Joel Ortiz (“Warfare"), Fabolous and his former A-Team members Ransom and Hitchcock (“Family Reunion"), joints like the sappy “Invisible Man" and the dull closer “Still My Hood" could have been left on the cutting room floor. Overall Rap needs Mood Muzik 3. It's a fresh piece of work where not only the MC scrutinizes the game but himself as well.
Board approves refinancing bond
JONESBORO — The Westside Consolidated School District Board of Education has given the go-ahead for superintendent Dr. James Best to refinance the district's bonded debt Monday in a special meeting. The refinancing would take advantage of lower interest rate for the school's current debt of more than $5.02 million. “The Fed dropped three quarters of a point that gives us a opportunity to refinance and lower the interest rate on our debt," Best said. The bond was issued June 1, 2003, for $5,718,176. The bond is redeemable, but not mature, on Aug. 1. “The bond has been taken out by voters over the years to pay for original construction on the facilities," Best said. Best said refinancing the bond would benefit the school in that it would refund money back to the school in May and would re-budget next year at a lower interest rate.
Deborah Leavy: Bill: A little too hands-on?
Don't think so. Something much bigger has turned Bill into a millstone around the neck of the woman who would be our first female president. Bigger than the ex-president's stealing the show when he appears with his wife. Bigger than the gaffes that sometimes made him the story, blotting out Hill's message. His presence in Hillary's campaign, and his frequent use of the word "we" in calling for her election, remind people not of the accomplishments of his presidency, and the promise of hers. Instead, it reminds people of the opportunities lost in his administration because of their marital troubles. It was an awful, embarrassing time for our country. The jokes. The glee some took in his fall from grace. When Bill links himself to Hillary, you can see the wheels turning: "Oh, God, I don't want to have to go through that again." The questions are flying: Did he make her some kind of promise? Is his help payback for her forgiveness? Have his missteps thus far been his subconscious way of sabotaging Hillary's campaign? And most important: Can he keep it in his pants throughout her campaign? And her presidency? Or will another "babe eruption" of Bill's be her undoing? Women who sympathized with her may also wonder if the leopard can really change his spots.
Economic stimulus a big break for home buyers
You could get a big break on your mortgage from the economic stimulus package announced Thursday. Besides its core purpose of providing tax refunds, the tentative package - which still has several hurdles to clear - essentially rewrites the definition of "jumbo" loan, raising the cap from its current $417,000 to as high as $729,750 in high-cost areas for one year. That would mean home buyers who need the high-ticket mortgages this area requires could qualify for the benefits now limited to non-jumbo, or conforming, loans: an interest rate that's roughly a full percentage point lower. On a $650,000, 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, the savings could be $417 a month, according to California Sen. Barbara Boxer's office. "This is exactly what we need for California," said David Crane, Gov.
